Techno
Leutogi
Released on: March 5, 2020
Marking her debut release on Darkroom Bureau, Xexyz brings us the two-track EP ‘Leutogi.’ She crawls through thick-bodied digital, dark ambient territories limning them, as the EP closes, with an understated, cave-ensconced dance statement.
The artist, a Milwaukee modular synthesist and vintage fashion figure, has a penchant for creating subdued chiming textures that feel very much unlike the rest of the Internet’s Rings-into-Clouds ambient output.
The EP’s ‘Leutogi’ name, borrowed from a Polynesian goddess and protector of the bats and fertility, prefaces the sound design within: bats recorded onto a Zoom field recorder are granulated into edgeless ringing, reverberating and nudging close to techno’s ambient outskirt.
